Yoga for Anxiety and Depression

Recent research shows that yoga provides both immediate and long lasting benefits for the mind and the body, and in particular, for managing the symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. This class combines the principles of yoga as a complement to traditional treatments of medication and psychotherapy. Participants will apply knowledge in practice to increase energy, cultivate calmness, improve mental clarity and provide emotional stability in patients, clients and students.

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is specifically designed for nurses and health care providers who care for patients or clients with anxiety and/or depression in the practice setting and applies towards the 500 hour Therapeutic Teacher Training Program. Appropriate for all yoga traditions. No yoga experience necessary.
This continuing nursing education activity was approved for 12 contact hours by the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses, Inc., an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Lorrie is a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist with expertise in Trauma, Sudden Bereavement, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. Lorrie several courses in the 500 Hour Therapeutic Teacher Training program, and oversees nursing programs within the Therapeutic Yoga curriculum
