TriYoga Class Descriptions
Basics is suitable for those new to yoga or those who want a gentle, slow-paced class, or those coming to yoga while healing. These classes include relaxing and rejuvenating posture sequences. . Focus is placed on moving with the breath, learning the wavelike motions of the spine, and core strengthening. TriYoga practices synchronize breath and movement, stretch and strength the body, quite the mind, and provide a guided pathway to intuitive higher knowledge within. Bolsters, pillows, and props can be used to ensure maximum comfort. There are 5 Basics primary series plus additional flows for a varied practice, as well as a number of shorten sequences to help inspire a home practice.
Free the Spine is a class for those who suffer with back pain. The postures are taken from different Basics flows with an emphasis on strengthening core muscles, learning correct alignment, and daily practices to strengthen and relieve back pain.
Class Structure for Levels One and Beyond.
Each TriYoga flow series consists of 4 flows: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each series is a complete practice, including the 7 posture groups. Each posture Group corresponds to a Chakra. TriYoga flow sequences are sequenced to move energy through the subtle body. The origin of the TriYoga flows is Kaliji’s experiences with Kriyavati.
There are 5 Primary series for each level. Each primary series includes 3 condensed flows (approx 1.5 hr class length) and the full flow which (workshop length). For even greater variety there are five additional 108 Flow series, and numerous shorter flow sequences.
Level One (Earth). L1 is suitable for students who have studied Basics and are ready to try a more challenging practice, or those who have studied other forms of yoga and do not wish to start with TriYoga Basics. The earth element predominates in L1. Emphasis is on correct alignment, unwavering focus on the breath, and expansion in all directions, laying a solid foundation for steady comfortable asanas.
Level Two (Water). L2 is suitable for students who have studied Level One and who have mastered the wavelike spinal rolls. The water element is the focus of L2. The wavelike motions of the spine introduced in Basics, used throughout L1 transitions, evolve into energy flows in L2. (Please note that Basics and L1 students can also experience the energy flows at each of those levels when the same focus and wavelike motions of the spine are used). When one dissolves into the flow synchronized with the breath, steady comfortable asanas emerge and dissolve in a manner that opens energy channels and stimulates the flow of subtle energy.
Level Three (Fire). L3 is a strenuous practice, requiring strength, flexibility, and endurance. It is suitable for strong L2 students and those who have knowledge of how to substitute asanas and transitions to maintain a safe and comfortable practice. The grounding and alignment of L1 and the steady even flow of L2 are maintained as more challenging asanas and flows are introduced. The L3 series follow the same structure as L1. There are 25 series and numerous other flows for L3.
Level Four (Air). L4 is suitable for students who are comfortable in a L3 practice and can maintain breath and focus while moving through challenging flows. The air element is more subtle than earth, waer or fire. The L4 focuses on the higher chakras, including heart opening flows done with increasing focus on the subtleties of the flow. The L4 manual will be released in the very near future.
Level Five (Space). L5 is suitable for students who are comfortable in a L4 practice. Space – akasha – is the most subtle element. L5 flows focus on the higher chakras, and include the more advanced inversions. The essence is dissolving into limitless expansion through the flow. While the TriYoga method systematically reveals higher knowledge through the practice, you can experience transformational benefits at any level. Because the source of the TriYoga Flows is Kaliji’s Kriyavati experiences with Kundalini spontaneously guiding different flows sequences, there is an inherent intelligence in the sequencing.
